The phenomenon of ghosting does not only apply to dating. Ghosting is a term that describes the practice of ending all communication and contact with another person without any apparent warning or justification and then ignoring any attempt at contact or communication made by that person.
Unpleasant? Of course. How many of you have had discussions about a translation or copywriting assignment (or other services) with someone who wanted to use your services and then disappeared? Or perhaps it’s better to ask if someone was lucky not to have such an experience? After many conversations in which you think you have established contact with a client interested in translation (after all, why would they waste so much of our time talking and negotiating), suddenly contact breaks off, and the client ignores your emails. Why does this happen? I will never understand. Personally, when asking for offers for various services, I always inform a given company that I have chosen another one. The phenomenon of ghosting results from an unwillingness to confront and take responsibility. It is a strategy that shows that you do not take your partner seriously. Everyone has the right to change their mind, and there is nothing wrong with that. However, the culture of business would require you to inform you so that you do not block space for other customers and thus lose an opportunity to earn money.
